after 2 weeks of paying for a subscription and waiting for Avid to NOT give me a license to use a 100% avid system (HDX / HD IO / Sync HD). I am pretty sure Sweetwater were even offering 50% off Ultimate reinstatement plans a few days ago. After 2 weeks of back and forth with Avid, I did NOT get one. You also would have gotten one if you upgraded your HD11 license rather than buying a new Ultimate subscription. If you register your HD I/O you should get a digilink license. Digilink license and plug in bundle included. I purchased a used HD native box and hooked it up to 2 x 192’s. Yes, it's confusing, but hopefully its not as bad as it seemed at first. Avid stopped selling reinstatements at the end of last year, but many dealers still have them in stock and will keep selling them until stocks are depleted. What you want is a "Reinstatement" (other names are used and can be confusing) NOT a cross-grade.

It should IF you have an Avid I/O box that you bought new with your HD Native TB product and registered to your account. You should check with whichever dealer you contact to see if the "Reinstatement" comes with a DigiLink I/O license.

The statement about HD Native and HDX systems not including a DigiLink I/O license only refers to new purchases that don't include an Avid converter box (i.e. Whatever you do, please contact the dealer and verify what you have and what you are getting, so there is no confusion. Here is one from Sweetwater, but you may be able to find them slightly cheaper from other dealers.

Also, if you "Reinstate" and don't "Cross-grade" then you should receive a bundle license with Pro Tools Ultimate 10/-2020.

With the "Reinstatement" you will keep your perpetual license and receive 1 year of support and upgrade plan, which will allow you to upgrade to the latest version for the next year, then allow you to "renew" your plan for additional years for $399/yr, as long as you don't go more than 30 days past your plan's expiration date.

I have thrown thousands at them over the last 10 years. This means that I will be locked into a subscription model and won't be able to go back to HD 10. If I "crossgrade" to a ProTools Ultimate licence, then I am obliged to "surrender" my HD 10 license. "Pro Tools DigiLink I/O is NOT included with Pro Tools Ultimate Software-only purchases or subscriptions, nor is it included with HDX or HD Native Core systems which do not include Avid HD interfaces."Īnd further monkey business. Just found this on the AVID knowledge base:
